I am:
Jay Jensen
I live:
in Minneapolis, MN
I have been skating:
since 1987, but I remember pushing on one-knee on an old yellow banana board around the block that my cousin had when I was around eight or nine years old
My first board:
Actually I wanted a board so bad that I took an old
1" x 12" piece of timber that was about a foot and a half long and cut
out some square blocks to attach underneath that acted as makeshift
'trucks'. I learned how to do boneless ones and rocking stops on that old timber board!
I used this homemade fake board for about a month until I got a Kaybee
Toys 'Wizard' skateboard for my 15th birthday. Both of the trucks broke
within the first two weeks of having it, so I went to the local hobby
store, 'Marty's Hobbycraft' and bought up a set of black Ventures. They
were the cheapest trucks in the store, but completely legit... Then I
bought a used complete from my skate pal Jeremey Pillar. It was a
woodstain blue Scmitt Stix Jeff Grosso (with the John Lucero
ragdoll-toybox graphic art). It had green Gullwing Pro III's, and
Slimeballs wheels. To me, that was a real skateboard! I have been a
core skateboarder ever since. Watch out!
